Winter The Ottawa Valley along the Laurentian Mountain range holds an enchanting beauty that excels in the winter months as well. Although the K/O lodges close for a few months at this time of year, you can still find cozy cottages and warm entertainment throughout Renfew County. Sometimes we are able to open up for a few weekends and enjoy the cooler outdoors, just look below at some of the activities we have enjoyed in the past. Start thinking about gliding over a frozen lake, sliding through a forest covered in snow and approaching your destination on the edge of the Algonquin wilderness. A beautiful lodge embedded in a region of rich history, a lodge awaiting your return to a place of wonders in sights and sounds and contentment. This is the hardest page so far that I have had to put up on the net folks. A photo of a trophy fish or a picturesque landscape may draw you into the feeling and excitement of being here, but to describe the feeling of breaking trail through a fresh layer of snow or pulling up to a frozen waterfall - well it is almost indescribable! Anyhow, This page is just starting out and as of December 2000 we will be rocking and rolling in a Mid Winter Days Dream! The K/O is opening for the "Cool Season" this year for the first time in over 10 years. 9 Winterized cabins and lodge suites will supply the utmost luxury for small groups, families and friends. We'll be Dog Sledding, Cross Country Skiing , Snowshoeing and Snowmobiling the north end of Algonquin. Check out the pic's and know that more info is on it's way.
The "Round Algonquin Park" tours are very popular now , but if you really want to get a feel for the area you should plan to take a few days just to explore our region.
This season our snow tours through the woodlands and lakes will be spectacular. The Northern Lights, Howling Wolves and Lost Lake Barbecues are just a few of the planned activities that will compliment your stay in the Northern Algonquin Wilderness.
